The bulk of the collection is made up of correspondence dealing with political matters. Among the correspondents are C.E. Pickett and Benjamin P. Birdsall (US representatives from Iowa's 3rd Congressional District); George W. Perkins, Joseph M. Dixon, and Frank Hitchcock, committee chairmen in the National Progressive Committee; Theodore Roosevelt; William Howard Taft; and Albert B. Cummins. Topics covered in the correspondence include party fund raising; the Modern Woodmen of America; questions regarding Republican Party unity; the need for successful Republican candidates on all levels; and the activities of the Progressive National Committee. In addition to correspondence the collection includes photographs; leases and receipts related to Franke's rental of Washington, D.C. property from James W. Spencer; obituaries and other biographical items; newspaper clippings related to politics and miscellaneous leaflets.
